Win in Rome: Sinner makes Italian Open history

Jannik Sinner beat Casper Ruud 6-4, 6-4 to win the Italian Open in Rome and complete the full set of nine ATP Masters 1000 titles. He became the first Italian man to win his home event in 50 years and only the second man after Novak Djokovic to sweep all nine Masters events. The result strengthens Sinner’s status heading into Roland Garros and adds another major benchmark to his season. It also reinforces the sense that he arrives in Paris as the form player on the ATP Tour.
