Privacy Policy

TennisDB is an independent ATP and WTA tennis statistics reference and research publisher. This policy applies to the public tennis-db.com website, its machine-readable pages, and TennisDB's internal maintenance surfaces.

TennisDB is the controller of the personal data described in this policy where data-protection law uses that term. The privacy contact is [email protected].

You can browse public pages without creating an account. TennisDB does not sell or rent visitor personal information for money. Some privacy laws define selected disclosures for targeted advertising as a "sale" or "sharing" even when no money changes hands; where applicable, TennisDB provides a choice to opt out.

• Request and security data: hosting and application logs may contain an IP address, user agent, requested URL, timestamp, referrer, and response status. This supports security, abuse prevention, debugging, and reliable delivery.
• Aggregate usage data: page views, referral sources, device or browser categories, approximate country-level location, and custom product events help identify useful pages and product problems. TennisDB receives aggregate reporting rather than persistent visitor profiles.
• Feedback data: a feedback submission includes the message and report type, plus any page URL, email address, or other information you choose to provide. It is used to investigate the report, improve the service, and reply when appropriate.
• Internal authentication data: authorized maintainers may use Google authentication for protected operational tools. TennisDB receives the account details needed to authenticate and authorize that access.
• Search and filter inputs: site searches and filters can appear in the requested URL and therefore in normal request logs. Do not put confidential or sensitive personal information in those fields.

Where the GDPR, UK GDPR, or similar law applies, TennisDB relies on legitimate interests to secure, operate, troubleshoot, measure, and improve the service; to prevent abuse; and to review and respond to feedback. These activities are limited to what is reasonably necessary for an independent public reference site.

Processing may also be necessary to comply with a legal obligation or to establish, exercise, or defend legal claims. If TennisDB introduces processing that requires consent, it will request that consent separately rather than treating ordinary site use as consent.

TennisDB uses Plausible Analytics (opens in new tab) for cookie-free, aggregate site measurement. TennisDB does not use analytics to build advertising profiles or track people across unrelated websites.

Plausible does not set analytics cookies. Strictly necessary session or security cookies may be used when an authorized maintainer signs in to a protected internal surface.

When display advertising is enabled, TennisDB uses Google AdSense on selected public reference and Research pages. Third-party vendors, including Google, may use cookies or similar local storage to serve and measure ads. Google's advertising cookies allow Google and its partners to select ads based on visits to TennisDB and other websites; depending on your choices and location, ads may be personalized or non-personalized.

Where consent is required, a Google-certified consent management platform asks before advertising storage or personalized-ad processing is permitted. The message identifies participating ad-technology providers and lets you consent, decline, or manage individual choices. You can reopen the privacy and cookie settings link placed at the bottom of an ad-supported page to change or withdraw a choice.

Limited information is processed by providers that help TennisDB operate. They process it under their own terms and privacy commitments and only for the relevant service:

• Render provides application and database hosting, delivery, and operational logging.
• Plausible Analytics provides aggregate website measurement.
• Email infrastructure delivers feedback notifications and replies when email is configured.
• Google provides fonts on public pages, OAuth authentication for authorized internal users, and—when display advertising is enabled—AdSense advertising and consent-management services. Google's handling is described in its Privacy Policy (opens in new tab).
• jsDelivr supplies country-flag assets, and Wikimedia Commons supplies selected freely licensed player images.

Loading a resource from one of these providers can disclose ordinary request metadata, including an IP address and user agent, to that provider. Following an external link takes you to a site governed by its own privacy policy.

Providers may process information in countries other than your own. Where required, the provider and TennisDB rely on legally recognized transfer safeguards.

TennisDB keeps information only as long as reasonably needed for the purpose described above. The period depends on the type of record: operational logs follow hosting and security needs; aggregate analytics follow product-analysis needs; feedback remains while a report is being handled or continues to inform corrections and maintenance; and records may be retained longer when required for legal, security, backup, or dispute purposes.

TennisDB uses reasonable technical and organizational safeguards appropriate to a small public information service. No internet transmission or storage system can be guaranteed completely secure.

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to request access to, correction of, deletion of, restriction of, or portability of your personal data, and to object to processing based on legitimate interests. You can also choose not to provide an email address with feedback, decline or withdraw advertising consent where offered, and use applicable opt-out controls for targeted advertising or the sale or sharing of personal information.

Some rights are subject to legal exceptions, including where data must be retained for security, legal claims, or compliance. You may also complain to the data-protection authority where you live.

TennisDB does not use visitor data for automated decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects.

TennisDB is a general-audience reference service and does not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child submitted personal information, contact TennisDB so it can be reviewed and, where appropriate, removed.
