Ruud routs home fave to reach Italian Open final

Casper Ruud stormed past home favorite Luciano Darderi to reach the Italian Open final in Rome. The win came after a long rain delay and followed Darderi’s run that included a first top-three victory over Alexander Zverev. Ruud now moves on to the title match, while Darderi’s week ends with a one-sided semifinal loss after his breakthrough run. In the other semifinal, Jannik Sinner was leading Daniil Medvedev when rain stopped play, leaving that match to resume Saturday.
