Luciano Darderi produced a major upset in Rome by beating Alexander Zverev. The Italian saved four match points and then completed a 1-6, 7-6(10), 6-0 win in the round of 16 of the Internazionali BNL d'Italia. The result knocked out the world No. 3 and gave Darderi his biggest career win. Zverev had a match point opportunity in the second-set tiebreak before the comeback turned against him.
