French Open Daily: Fonseca fights on while Swiatek crashes out

Jakub Mensik beat Alex de Minaur 0-6, 6-2, 6-2, 6-3 to reach the Roland-Garros round of 16, while Félix Auger-Aliassime also kept moving through the draw after coming from a set down again. Jannik Sinner and Novak Djokovic are both out, and Iga Swiatek has crashed out, leaving the French Open men’s and women’s draws wide open. The practical consequence is clear: with several top names gone, the title race in Paris has shifted sharply toward the remaining contenders, including Andrey Rublev next for Mensik. Joao Fonseca also remains part of the Day 8 picture after fighting on at Roland-Garros.
