May 13, 1973: The day Bobby Riggs “massacred” Margaret Court in a Battle of the Sexes prequel


Bobby Riggs beat Margaret Court in the May 13, 1973 exhibition known as the Mother's Day Massacre. Court was world No. 2 at the time, and the loss fed directly into the buildup for the later Battle of the Sexes. The result became one of the sport's most famous reference points in tennis history.
