Harriet Dart lost in the first round of the Eastbourne Open, falling 4-6, 6-2, 7-5 to Zeynep Sönmez. The result ended Dart’s run at the WTA event and sent Sönmez through. For British interest at Eastbourne, it meant one home hope was out while Sönmez moved on.
